University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is part of the University of Massachusetts system and is located in North Dartmouth between New Bedford and Fall River. Sometimes referred to as UMass-Dartmouth, UMassD, or UMD, this is a small campus of undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students. This campus specializes in training engineers, health care workers, marine scientists, teachers, performing and visual arts, business students, and graduates n the liberal arts. This campus also has one of the most extensive programs in Portuguese language and literary studies.
School history
When you are here with your Quincy rent a car, you might learn that the Dartmouth campus has roots back to 1895, when the Massachusetts legislature chartered the New Bedford Textile School in New Bedford and the Bradford Durfee Textile School in Fall River. In 1962, the two schools were combined to create the Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute and expanded to the become Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1969. I became part of the University of Massachusetts system in 1991 and has expanded since then, particularly in continuing education.

Campus activities
