Boston Rental Cars and The Sports Museum of New England
True sports fans know that New England is a city of time honoured athletes and dedicated dreamers. That's why the Sports Museum of New England is such a popular tourist attraction. Located in the TD Banknorth Garden, The New England Sports Museum is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization. Here, travelers in Boston rental cars will find a wide variety of exhibits, each telling the story of a talented Massachusetts athlete. Every great champion starts with a dream. The Sports Museum of New England helps athletes believe in their potential.
Exhibits to get excited about
Travelers in Boston rental cars will find more than a half mile of exhibits inside the Sports Museum of New England. Here are just a few of the more popular ones:
- The Beanpot: Bragging rights are up for grabs during this annual hockey tournament between BC, BU, Harvard and Northeastern universities. The tournament is held the first two Monday's of February each year, after which the winner is awarded the Beanpot Trophy. Want to catch a glimpse of this Holy Grail during your upcoming Boston rental cars vacation? Then simply drop by the Sports Museum of New England and check out the Beanpot display.
- Adam Vinatieri's Shoes: You won't get to walk in them, but you will get to take a good long look at them thanks to the Sports Museum of America's exclusive exhibit. So what's the deal with these rather ordinary looking cleats? Adam happened to be wearing him when he kicked the 48-yard field goal on the final play of Super Bowl XXVI giving the Patriots the win over the St. Louis Rams.
- Take a look at Ted Williams' Locker: The Sports Museum of New England saved this legendary slugger's locker minutes before it was slated for the scrap heap after renovations at Fenway. Today, travelers in Boston rental cars can sit in it and imagine what it must have been like to the "the greatest hitter who ever lived."
Find your way to New England's sports shrine
Travelers in Boston rental cars will find the Sports Museum on level 5 and 6 of the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston's Downtown North section on Causeway Street. If you're coming from the north, Verc recommends taking Interstate 93S to exit 26A/Leverett Circle/Cambridge. Follow the signs that point towards North Station. Turn right when you get to the end of the ramp. You should be able to see TD Banknorth Garden on your left. From the South, take Interstate 95N to Interstate 93N to Boston. Enter the 93N Tunnel, taking the 26 exit/Storrow Drive. Once you've exited, stay left and follow the signs for North Station. Eventually you will need to merge into the right lane onto Cross Street. Stay to the right and continue through two sets of traffic lights. Make a right when you get to the third traffic light, followed by a left merge onto Medford Street. Follow Medford to the end and turn left onto Causeway Street. TD Banknorth Garden will on to your right.
