The South Shore Art Center is a non-profit organization that is based south of Boston in Cohasset. They seek to enrich communities south of Boston with an understanding and appreciation of the arts. This is a small gallery with changing exhibitions. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is a museum near the Museum of Fine Arts with your Boston car rental in the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood. They have a collection of 2500 works of European, Asian, and American art which includes paintings, sculpture, tapestries, and decorative arts. One notable event that took place here was a theft of thirteen works of art, including one work by Johannes Vermee and three works by Rembrandt van Rijn. The theft happened in 1990 and was valued at over $500 million. It is considered to be the biggest art theft in history and the crime remains unsolved.

By the sea
The Institute of Contemporary Art is located in the Seaport District with your Boston car rental. The museum moved here in late 2006 from the Back Bay neighborhood. They feature contemporary art as well as the Momentum series, which focuses on emerging artists. There is also the Sandra and Gerald Fineberg Art Wall, which is an annual commission for the museum lobby. They are open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., except Thursday and Friday when they are open until 9 p.m. They are closed on Mondays, except for some holidays. Admission is $15, or $10 for students and seniors. Entrance is free from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays for Target Free Thursdays. There is no parking available here for your Boston car rental.

The Robert Klein Gallery is dedicated to fine art photography from the 19th and 20th centuries, which you can visit with your Boston car rental. Some photographers have received critical acclaim, including Gustave LeGray, Ansel Adams, Irving Penn, and many others. The gallery opened in 1980 and is open in the summer from 10 to 5, Tuesday through Friday.
