Plymouth Free Petting Zoo and Horticultural Center with your Plymouth car hire
Located in Plymouth County Farm on 74 Oberey Street beside the Plymouth County Trial Court, the Plymouth County Farm has been operated by Sheriff Porter since 1919. The farm, which is over a hundred years old, includes a Free Petting Zoo and Horticultural Center. Today, it is still operated by the Sheriff’s Department. This 90-acre piece of land is preserved and is acts as a reminder of Plymouth’s agricultural heritage. This is a spot you don`t want to miss out in seeing when you travel with your Plymouth car hire.
Having fun no matter when you come
When you visit the Plymouth County Farm with your Plymouth car hire you will never be bored as there is always some sort of event going on. Families are welcome to bring their own food and lounge in the designated picnic areas with their snacks and lunches.
Helping you celebrate the holidays
If you go around mid-September with your Plymouth car hire, it is an excellent time to pick up a couple of pumpkins to light up your Halloween with some Jack-O-Lanterns or to make a scrumptious pumpkin pie. The Plymouth County Farm also sells hay, corn stalks, assorted gourds, and munchkin pumpkins. Around October, the Plymouth County Farm is host to the Harvest Festival which showcases mums, as well as demonstrations. There are several activities for the kids too including pumpkin painting, free t-shirts for kids, and a reptile show.
The Horticultural Center is a great place to get your holiday plant such as wreaths, poinsettias and Christmas tress which go on sale in late November.
In the spring, fresh blooming annuals and plants from the greenhouses are sold. You will be able to found over 550 hanging plants including impatiens, petunias, begonias, marigolds, geraniums and so much more when you travel with your Plymouth car hire.

The Plymouth Petting Zoo is a great place to come with your family when you travel with your Plymouth car hire. Kids will be delighted to meet the animals such as Mary the cow, Beak the chicken and Franco the tortoise. Some other animals you may find at the Plymouth Petting Zoo include goats, sheep, horses, peacocks, rabbits, guinea fowl, and miniature horses. Another attraction of the Plymouth Petting Zoo is that it is absolutely free to all visitors.
Working for the community
The Plymouth Free Petting Zoo and Horticultural Center also has a unique program where inmates convicted of nonviolent offenses, from Plymouth Country correctional facility, work on the farm. This program allows for the inmates to gain accountability and a sense of accomplishment that comes with working. The farm staff is made up of six correction officers who are also trained horticulturalists who supervise the inmate crew that raise plants and tend to the animals on the 90-acre farm.
As well, all proceeds go to the inmate rehabilitation programs on the farm and the Plymouth Country Correctional Facility.
Before you go...
The farm is open year round, 7 days a week from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the Farm is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The best time to visit the Plymouth Free Petting Zoo is from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
