Massachusetts Travel and New Hampshire Dining
New Hampshire has many dining options, from the traditional New England fair to lobster bakes and breweries. When you visit New Hampshire during your Massachusetts travels you will find exciting options.
Work for your food
Throughout New Hampshire there are family farms that have been a part of the fabric of this state for centuries. Many of these farms keep their doors open to visitors to enjoy their food. The best way to find these hidden treasures on your Massachusetts travels is to take the back roads which have been designated as New Hampshire Scenic Byways. In Barrington, Warren Farm starts the season with Strawberry picking and then moves to raspberries, corn, grapes, and ends the season with pumpkins. Then you can head down to Newfield where you can find organic farm stands.
Pick the cream of the crop
In July and August, blueberry picking is a favorite of locals and a fun stop on your Massachusetts travels. If you move north towards Contoocook, you can pick your own apples and make fresh-pressed cider. There is the “Apple Way”, a ten-mile loop that will take you past five apple orchards in Londonderry.
Wine and dine them
New Hampshire has a commitment to bring the best from the farm to the table, which you will benefit from while you are on your Massachusetts travels. Wine and cheese tours are fast becoming popular in this small state. Wineries in the Seacoast Region are a good place to start. Flaghill Winery in Lee welcomes you to taste their reds, whites, and port wines produced from the region. On Saturday evenings the Ferguson-Davis Dinning Room offers season cuisine that incorporates ingredients from local farms and producers.
Don’t get bogged down
In the Monadnock Region along the Connecticut River you will find Boggy Meadow Farm, which makes cheese from an old alpine recipe using raw milk from their cows. You can call ahead to schedule a tour of the facilities or drop by anytime to their 24 hour store. Nearby in Alison’s Orchard is the LaBelle Winery. They produce fabulous seasonal wines made from apples, peaches, strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, jalapeno peppers, and pumpkins. These wines are not something you want to miss on your Massachusetts travels!
Of course, New Hampshire offers many restaurants along the way as well. Especially in the larger urban areas you will find all types of cuisine for every price range.
When visiting New Hampshire, look for those restaurants that take New Hampshire fresh ingredients and make it into a great meal at every price range.
