Massachusetts College of Art and Rental Car in Boston
Located on 621 Huntington Ave, the Massachusetts College of Art and Design is a publicly funded college founded in 1873. It is one of the oldest art schools as well as the first art college to grant a degree in the United States. The Massachusetts of College of Art and Design is accredited by the New England Association of School and Colleges the National Association of Schools of Art and Design as well as a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD).

The Massachusetts College of Art offers a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts, a Master of Science in Art Education, a Master of fine arts and beginning in 2007 the school received Candidacy Status for a Master of Architecture. Students can major in Fine Arts 2D, Fine Arts 3D, Communication Design, Environmental Design, Media and Performing Arts, and Art Education. Within these majors, students have a variety of options including Industrial Design, Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM), Fashion Design and Graphic Design.
A glance at the past
In the 1860s, families of civic and business leaders who had made a fortune in the China Trade, textile manufacture, railroads, and retailing got together to try to influence the future development of Massachusetts. They proposed an institution to stimulate the learning of technology and fine art. They eventually were able to successfully persuade the state legislature to found several institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1860, the Museum of Fine Arts in 1870 and the Massachusetts Normal Art School in 1873.

The Tower building is the most dominant building on campus standing 13 stories tall.
Art culture for the people
Make sure to check out some of the galleries located on campus when you visit with your rental car in Boston. The galleries have gained recognition, having been ranked among the top ten by the Boston Globe for their Exhibitions and Visiting Artists Program. The galleries show exhibitions from students and more established artists. There are nine galleries in total and they include the Arnheim Gallery, Brant Gallery, Bakalar and Paine Galleries, Doran Gallery, President¡¯s Gallery, Student Life Gallery, Tower Gallery, and Godine Family Gallery. All galleries offer free admission and are open to the public.
Notable alumni
The Massachusetts of College Art and Design have had several notable alumni that made a name for themselves in their respective fields including Chris Beatrice a game designer, Muriel Cooper a MIT Media lab co- founder, Sam Durant an installation artist and sculpture, Janet Doub Erickson a graphic artist and author, and Sonya Rapoport a conceptual digital artist and multimedia artist. The campus has also been home to several notable faculty including Grank Gohlke a photographer, Noel Ignatiev a history professor, and Muriel Cooper a graphic designer and futurist.
