Look Park is a place where vacationers can engage in both active and passive recreation, including exciting seasonal programs and amenities. From bumper boats to children's play equipment, Look Park is the place to be for affordable fun in Massachusetts.
History of the park
Look Park, which consists of more than 150 acres, was a gift to the city of North Hampton from Mrs. Fannie Burr Look. Not only did Mrs. Look provide the land for the park, but she also provided the funds for its development and a trust fund for its continual upkeep. The park was named as a living memorial to Frank Newhall Look, and was first opened to the public in 1930. Today, Look Park functions as a city-owned and operated park and is administered as a non-profit organization by a self-perpetuating board.
Endless attractions at Look Park
New England rental car travelers will find tons of great attractions at Look Park. Kids of all ages will love riding the Steamer Railroad, as well as paddling around on Willow Lake. A miniature golf course is open beginning in April, and the bumper boats are available until mid fall. Other attractions worth checking out at Look Park include:
The Christenson Zoo: New England rental car travelers can visit the Christenson Zoo inside Look Park May through September from 11am to 7pm. Animals at the zoo include white-tailed deer, peacocks, bald eagles, owls, rabbits, ferrets, sheep, and the latest edition, pygmy goats.
Richard S. Holden Visitor Center: Open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, the Visitor Center provides New England rental car travelers with general park information, season passes, and picnic permits.
Playgrounds: New England car rental travelers will find two giant playscape playgrounds at Look Park. These playgrounds are age appropriate for 2 to 5 year olds ad 2 to 12 year olds. Both are located in the Playground Picnic Area.
Water Spray Park: Added to Look Park in 1999, the Water Spray Park provides Massachusetts residents with the perfect place to cool off. Spanning over 5000 square feet, the Spray Park features ground jets, bucket dumps, and water umbrellas. The Water Spray Park is open daily from Memorial Day weekend to mid September.
Enjoy a picnic in the park
Look Park is a great place to plan a picnic while vacationing New England. Just remember, you must have a permit in order to plan a picnic here. New England rental car travelers may obtain permits at the Park Office in person, by phone at 413-584-5457, or by email request at lookpark@comcast.net. When booking picnic space, remember that one picnic table holds up to 10 people. Table rentals at $15 for non-residents, Monday through Thursday. Weekend rentals cost an additional $10. If you plan to have alcohol at your picnic, and additional $10 charge will be applied to your permit.
Admission fees to Look Park
New England rental car travelers can visit Look Park daily from April 1st to October 15th for just $5 (weekdays) and $7 (weekends). Season passes are available for $45 for non-residents. New England rental car travelers should also note that the attractions at the park require a small fee to use. Pedal boat rentals are $7 a boat, while bumper boats are $5 each. Mini Golf is just $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children. Multi-ride passes are available for the bumper boats, pedal boats, and steamer train.
