Car Rentals Boston and Logan International Airport
Logan International Airport is found in East Boston with your car rental Boston. It is one of the busiest airports in the United States and likely where you may fly into Boston.
Follow the long path
Logan International Airport was originally called Boston Airport and opened in September 1923. It was used at this time by the Massachusetts Air Guard and the Army Air Corps. At the time it opened, it was known as Jeffery Field. The first passenger commercial flight took place between Boston and New York in 1927. Over the years the airport has expanded quite a bit, as you will see when you come with your car rental Boston. There was even an addition of 1800 acres built on a landfill in the Boston Harbor. As a consequence, the airport is almost entirely surrounded by water. In 1952, it became the first in the United States with an indirect rapid transit connection. It was renamed as General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport after the hero of the Spanish-American War, who was from South Boston.
Unique features
Logan International Airport has six runways that covers 2384 acres of land. Perhaps when you come with your car rental Boston you will get to use the new runway. In 2006, there was an additional runway that opened, the first in more than 40 years. There was fierce opposition of the additional runway and there has been even more controversy since it opened. They also have permission for construction of a new center field taxiway to alleviate airfield construction. The airport is served by Fixed Base Operators, which handle fuelling, ground handling, aircraft cleaning, cargo service, and aircraft maintenance.
