Kenosha Car Hire and Kemper Center
Discover the rolling lawns of the Kemper Center during your upcoming Kenosha car hire vacation and discover one of the area's favourite historic locations. Located along the Lake Michigan shoreline, the Kemper Center is a private, non-profit organization focused on preserving the history and culture of Kenosha's historic buildings. On the site, Kenosha car hire travelers will discover the historic Durkee Mansion, an amazing 17.5 acre park and the recently restored Kemper Hall. The Anderson Arts Center is also located on the premises, providing visitors with unlimited access to both cultural and historical exhibits. You don't have to be a Wisconsin history buff to appreciate the scope of this fantastic facility; all you need is the desire to learn more about Kenosha.
A short history of the center
Before the Kemper Center became a National Historic Site, it was the private home and grounds of Wisconsin's first senator, Charles Durkee. In 1856, the property was made available to the Kenosha Female Seminary, where in 1870, St. Clair's Hall became known as Kemper Hall. The grounds were the site of an Episcopal girls' school for more than 100 years, until the school was closed in 1975. At this time, the grounds and buildings became a Kenosha County Park. Each year thousands of Kenosha car hire travelers visit Kemper grounds to participate in special events and educational programs. With so much history to draw from, it's no wonder Kemper Center is one of the area's most important attractions.
