About the Island Queen
The Island Queen Ferry has been sailing for more than 50 years and is the only ship regularly sailing from Falmouth harbour to Martha’s Vineyard. The ship is a seasonal passenger ferry that offers service from late May though mid-October. Abroad the ship, Plymouth car rental travelers will enjoy a complete snack bar, comfortable seating in a spectacular picture window lounge and a sunny outside deck. The helpful crew will ensure that your cruise to the Vineyard is as stress-free as possible; simply park your Plymouth car rental in the ample parking and climb aboard. Plymouth car rental travelers are permitted to bring bicycle and pets aboard the ship; vehicles are not permitted. Reservations are not required, but it is recommended that passengers arrive at least 45 minutes prior to departure.
Information about fares
The Island Queen sails from 75 Falmouth Heights Road in the Falmouth Harbor. Plymouth car rental travelers can purchase their tickets to the Ferry from the Ticket Office. Return tickets can be purchased on the Island Queen from the snack bar. Tickets are valid for any day on any sailing, so passengers are always guaranteed placement on the boat once they’ve entered the boarding area. The parking lot at the Falmouth Harbor dock is located about 100 yards from the pier. Round trip fares on the Island Queen are $18 for adults, $9 for children and free for children under the age of three. One way tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. A nominal fee will also be charged for travelers wishing to bring a bicycle aboard the Island Queen.
Directions to the Island Queen
It is recommended that Plymouth car rental travelers follow the below directions to the Island Queen terminal:
- From Bourne Bridge: Follow Route 28 South for approximately 13 miles. At the first set of traffic lights, turn left onto Jones Road. Continue on Jones until you reach the second traffic light and turn right onto Route 28. Take 28 for about half a mile until you reach the Falmouth Plaza; bear left onto Falmouth Heights Road and continue a quarter of a mile to the Island Queen Dock and Ticket Office.
