Halifax Car Rentals and Halifax, Massachusetts Overview
The Town of Halifax was founded in 1743, but it was first settled in 1670. It is near the center of Plymouth County. Its location makes it easy for you to travel through New England with your Halifax car rental. The attraction of staying here is that it is a small town where you will find some peace and quite; an escape from the everyday life.
From England to New England
Plymouth County is where many of the first Europeans to settle in New England chose to make their homes. Towns such as Plymouth, Salem, and Boston were founded by the Pilgrims and Puritans who chose to leave England for a better life without religious persecution in a new land. A century later, the area became known as the "cradle of liberty" for revolutionaries who wanted to separate from the British Crown and establish their own country.
The state has constantly changed over the years, and is today considered one of the most progressive in the Union. Liberal though is popular here, and many politicians with national aspirations come from here, although in recent years they have been unsuccessful at securing the presidency. However, one thing the state is famous for is that it is the only state to have legalized same sex marriage. As you visit with your Halifax car rental you may find that you will learn a lot from these people.
Many famous Americans have come from this states: John Adams, George H.W. Bush, John F. Kennedy, Alexander Graham Bell, Samuel Morse, e.e. cummings, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ben Affleck, Steve Carell, Matt Damon, Geena Davis, Jay Leno, Leonard Nimoy, Mark Wahlberg, Barbara Walters, Aerosmith, Donna Summers, James Taylor, and many, many more.
Exotic New England
While New England may not be exotic, there are some very famous places to visit here. Cape Cod is one of those places, found on the Easternmost portion of the Commonwealth with your Halifax car rental. Although at one time it was connected to the main land, a canal completed in 1914 made it into a large island.
The island has a temperate marine climate, which is usually a little more moderate than inland locations. It is a little cooler in the summer and a little warmer in the winter, making it a great place to visit all year long with your Halifax car rental.
Cape Cod is most popular between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but many people are starting to come just around the peak times when it is a little quieter. Cape Cod is well-known for producing products such as cranberries, shellfish such as oysters and clams, and lobster. These make excellent souvenirs to take back with you in your Halifax car rental.
