The George Wright Golf Course is a public golf course in Boston that you can visit with your discount Boston car rental. It was designed as one of President Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration Projects of the 1930s. The course opened in 1938. In the 1920s, a group of citizens in Boston gained control of the Henry Grew estate in the Hyde Park neighborhood. They wanted to build a private golf club in Boston, but when the market crashed in 1929, the project was abandoned. The course features great views of the city and interesting terrain. Over half of the holes on the course include significant hills that often cause the golfer to hit blind shots. The hill on the 12th hole is very steep and has been used by sledders in the winter.
