Engage with exotic animals
Children and adults alike are invited to befriend the exotic animals currently housed at the Franklin Park Zoo. These intriguing animals come from every corner of the earth to help teach Bostonians about the importance of habitat conservation and animal rehabilitation. Here are just a few of the informative exhibits you'll find inside the zoo:
- Serengeti Crossing: A proven favourite among Boston car rental travelers, the Serengeti Crossing exhibit features four-acres of open grassland and rolling, wooded hills. Animals in the exhibit interact with one another, similar to those found in the wilds of the African Savannah. Animals housed in this exhibit include ostriches, Grant's zebras, Nubian ibex and white-bearded wildebeests.
- Franklin Farm: Boston car rental travelers can experience life on the farm in the heart of Boston when they visit the Franklin Farm exhibit. This miniature farm features a fun Contact Coral, where children can touch and see animals such as goats and sheep. There's also a brooder building where newly hatched chicks are raised, and a chicken coop for older hens. Inside the main barn, Boston car rental travelers will find sheep, donkeys, ponies and cows.
- Kalahari Kingdom: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stare an African lion in straight in the eyes? Well, now you can... from the safety of a Landrover vehicle of course! The Kalahari Kingdom exhibit features two attractions. First, Boston car rental travelers are encouraged to climb inside a Landrover for a tour of the of the lion's habitat, followed by a tour through the ranger station which features a glassed in view of the lion's den.
- Bird's World: Bird's World is housed in one of the oldest buildings at the Franklin Park Zoo. It features the new Night and Day exhibit, which houses nocturnal tawny frogmouths from Australia.
Other exhibits at the Franklin Park Zoo include Outback Trail, Butterfly Landing, Tropical Forest, Giraffe Savannah and Tiger Tales.
Tempt your taste buds with wild menu items
Boston car rental travelers will find a wonderful indoor concession stand onsite at the Franklin Zoo. It's called the Giddy-Up Grill and is open year round. It features delicious treats that the whole family will love including healthy wraps, fresh salads and gooey Pizza Hut Pizza. The seasonal Kalahari Kitchen serves a selection of hotdogs, hamburgers and other grilled delicacies. Visitors can enjoy their food on one of the dozens of outdoor picnic tables located throughout the park.
Hours and admission rates
Boston car rental travelers can visit the Franklin Zoo for just $12. Children are admitted for $7 and seniors are admitted for $10. Advance tickets can be ordered online at www.franklinparkzoo.org. The zoo is open from 10am to 5pmm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on weekends during the summer. Winter hours are 10am to 4pm daily. The Franklin Park Zoo is located on 72 acres of land at One Franklin Park Road in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
