The Falmouth Museums on the Green tell the story of Falmouth, Massachusetts. A whale of a tale
Whaling was an important part of the economy in the 19th century. During this time, Falmouth had 65 whaling captains and built six whaling ships. There is also an exhibit from the federal doctor’s office from 1790 where the small pox vaccine was introduced to the area in the early 1800s. Gorey’s books were popular with children, but he did not associate with them much and never married.

The mission of the Edward Gorey House is to celebrate the life and works of Edward Gorey, author, illustrator, playwright, set, and costume designer. Get to know the area
Yarmouthport is located in the city of Barnstable, the largest community on Cape Cod. This was one of the first towns to be settled in 1636, incorporated in 1639. The earliest settlers were farmers, but fishing and salt works soon became major industries in town. By the late 19th century, Barnstable was becoming a tourist destination, which is the major industry today when you visit with your car rental Cape Cod.
