About the EcoTarium
The EcoTarium is well rooted in the Worcester community. Founded as a private, non-profit organization back in 1825, the museum is now one of the area’s most popular institutes of natural history. In the late 1990’s, the museum underwent a major physical and philosophical shift, returning to a basis of natural history. Today, tens of thousands of visitors pass through the EcoTarium’s doors every year, including thousands of schoolchildren from across the region.
Exhibits at EcoTarium
Car rental Plymouth travelers will discover three floors of exhibits at the EcoTarium, each of which makes creative use of the facility’s natural history collection and living wildlife. Exhibits are designed to teach visitors about our planet’s history and the local environments of New England. Two of the most popular indoor exhibits at the EcoTarium are Cool Moves and Bubbles. Cool Move: The Artistry of Motion allows car rental Plymouth visitor to interact with the science of motion, including touchable tornadoes, pendulums and a dancing wall. In the Bubbles exhibit, travelers will have the opportunity to create magnificent mega bubbles, all while learning the science behind these soapy balloons.
Animals at EcoTarium
The EcoTarium is two unique exhibits in one: an educational museum and living zoo. Inside the zoo section of the facility, car rental Plymouth travelers will encounter a large variety of animals, including everything from frogs and turtles to polar bears and chinchillas. Visitors to the museum will have the chance to meet these wild residents as part of public programs, or during a walk through the venue. Many of the animals on display at the EcoTarium could not survive on their own in the wild, so we ask that you take special precaution when handling any of the petting zoo animals. One of the most popular animal exhibits at the EcoTarium is the polar bear area. Today, car rental Plymouth travelers have the opportunity to meet Kenda, a fully-grown female bear. Kenda’s mother, Ursa Minor, lived at the museum until her death in 2001. She was 36 years old, making her one of the longest living polar bears in captivity.
