Durgin-Park
If you got your car rental in Boston and want a taste of truly traditional Yankee food, Durgin-Park is the place to go. Established in 1742, Durgin-Park was originally a small dining room for market men and the crews of the ships anchored in Boston Harbor. The dining room has since expanded, but has kept the tradition of offering the freshest fish, meat, and produce available, all served up by sassy waitresses. It now boasts customers from different walks of life, including celebrities, students, tourist, and business people.
Old-Fashioned Favorites
Durgin-Park has long been famous for their Boston baked beans, but this isn't the only thing on the menu that those who got their car rental in Boston will want to save room for. You can indulge in jumbo lump crab cakes, fresh lobster salad, shepherd's pie, ground hamburger steak, broiled lamb chops, roasted and stuffed tom turkey, and fried clams.
An experience that many people want but don't have time for when they go to Boston is participation in a New England Clambake. Durgin-Park offers a solution. Their "New England Clambake" meal gives you clam chowder, steamers, 1.25 lbs of lobster, boiled potatoes, and corn-on-the-cob.
Unlike many restaurants that expect you to buy your side dishes separately, Durgin-Park includes a salad with their pasta dishes and serves all other entrees with a potato dish and the vegetable of the day. To make dining with them affordable for everyone, they also offer specials, such as short ribs of beef with creole sauce for $9.95 and Yankee pot roast for $10.95. All lunch specials are served with cornbread, a potato dish, and a vegetable.
To go along with your meals, they import beers from all over the world, as well as from the North-East United States.
Classic Deserts to Tempt You
Durgin-Park hasn't just maintained the long-standing tradition of serving old-fashioned favorites when it comes to main dishes. Their deserts will also be a trip back in time for those who got their car rental in Boston. You can sink your fork into homemade strawberry shortcake topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, or try their apple pan dowdy, Boston cream pie, coffee jello, baked Indian pudding, bread pudding, or any of their selection of seasonal pies.
