The DeCordova Museum is best known for its amazing collection of outdoor sculptures and installation artworks. The largest park of its kind in New England at 35-acres, the Sculpture Park features a constantly changing landscape of art and creativity. Customers of Verc Massachusetts Rent A Car can visit the Sculpture Park 365 days a year. Inside, you'll uncover more than 75 works at any given time, including dozens of permanent pieces. There is currently a three tier exhibition program in place inside the Sculpture Park. It functions as follows:
- Tier One: The first tier consists of outdoor sculptures from DeCordova's permanent collection. These works are few in number and include historically significant artists like George Rickey and Alexander Liberman.
- Tier Two: This tier makes of the bulk of Sculpture Park and is comprised of pre-existing large-scale outdoor sculptures borrowed by DeCordova. These works are selected by DeCordova curators and sited in consultation with the artist whenever possible. Customers of Verc Massachusetts Rent A Car can expect approximately 8-10 sculptures to rotate in and out of the park each year.
- Tier Three: The third tier consists of site specific, temporary, long-term 91-5 years) outdoor sculptures and installations designed by artists expressly for specific sites in DeCordova's Sculpture Park. Artists and curators work together over a number of years to develop, fund and construct each of these special artworks. Many of these installations are environmentally based, both in terms of materials and content.
Embark on a tour
Customers of Verc Massachusetts Car Rental can tour both the galleries at DeCordova, as well as the Sculpture Gardens. These tours provide visitors with tons of great information, and include gentle guidance throughout the museum's exhibition rooms. All tours begin in the Museum Lobby and are free with Campus admission. Tours of the galleries are offered Thursdays at 1pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tours of the Sculpture Park are offered Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm (May through October only).

Let the sculptures at DeCordova inspire you to enrol in an upcoming Museum School class or workshop. Customers of Verc Massachusetts Rent A Car will be excited to note that the DeCordova Museum School is the largest non-degree granting studio art program in all of Massachusetts. Offered programs include calligraphy and book arts, ceramics, collage/color/design, drawing and much, much more. Students start as young as 5 years old at DeCordova and range in skill and understanding. DeCordova accepts 3,500 students annual and boasts a faculty of 65 instructors.
Customers of Verc Massachusetts Rent A Car can visit the DeCordova Campus for a fee of just $12. Seniors, students and children are admitted for the discounted price of $8 and children under the age of 5 are admitted for free. Admission is charged only during museum operating house (Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm). Outside of these times, customers of Verc Massachusetts Rent A Car can visit the Sculpture Park free of charge.
