Travel to 2601 Beacon St. Chestnut Hill, with your Boston rental car to catch a great game or performance at the Conte Forum. The Silvio O. Conte Forum, usually more well known as the Conte Forum is an 8 606 seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of Boston College in the Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts area that lies within the Brighton neighborhood of Boston. Opened in 1988 and directly adjacent to Alumni Stadium (some luxury boxes overlook both the stadium and arena floors), it is home to the Boston College Eagles men's and women's basketball and ice hockey teams. It was built on the site of the former McHugh Hockey Rink.
A little history
Since the Silvio O. Conte Forums opening in October 1988 it has been the center of the Boston College athletics program. When you travel with your Boston rental cars from October through March, its main arena is the home of the Boston College Eagles' men's and women's basketball and hockey teams. It is here that you will see some of the most thrilling sports action in the Boston area with your Boston rental cars. Although the arena seats 8 606 for basketball and 7 884 for hockey, it is common for the Conte Forum to sellout during the seasons. To avoid disappointment make sure you book your tickets ahead with your Boston rental cars.
An all-purpose arena
When you travel to the Conte Forum with your Boston rental car you will also find that it houses the 950 seat Power Gymnasium, as well as offices for Athletic Association staff and varsity coaches, film and conference rooms, the weight training and sports medicine facilities, locker and equipment rooms, and practice and storage rooms for the Boston College band. As the largest indoor venue on the BC campus, Conte Forum hosts larger university related events including conferences, debates and concerts. It is also the site of the annual "Pops on the Heights," a gala concert featuring the Boston Pops Orchestra which raises over $1.5 million for Boston College's academic scholarship fund. In the event of bad weather, Conte Forum also hosts the university's commencement.
Its all in the name
Conte Forum is after the former United States congressman Silvio O. Conte, an alumnus of Boston College and Boston College Law School. The ice rink is also named in honor of a long time Boston College hockey coach John "Snooks" Kelley. The entire arena is traditionally called "Kelley Rink" for ice hockey games. Also, dont forget to check out the Trophy Case on display at the Conte Forum. You can enjoy championship relics obtained from the rich Boston College's athletic history. Impressive displays and historical trophies line the Alumni Stadium side of the concourse in Conte Forum and pay tribute to the program's 31 varsity sports programs.
