For more than 55 years, South Shore Music Circus and it's sister venue, the Cape Cod Melody Tent, have been hosting entertainment in Cape Cod. The Melody Tent is located in Hyannis and is one of the only two continuously-operated tent theaters in the United States. It is operated by a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to supporting the arts, cultural, and educational organizations of the South Shore and Cape Cod. The early days of summer theater in Cape Cod began in 1932 at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts. By 1949, the shows were a huge success and there was not enough room for performances.
