Watch one of the Boston Red Sox games being played in Fenway Park with your Boston car rentals company VERC Rentals. This stadium is in fact the oldest major league ballpark that is still operating since its opening in April 20, 1912. In 1903, the Red Sox won the firs World Series as the Boston Americans against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Unfortunately, it would be 86 years, in 2004 before they would win another World Series.

The legend of Babe Ruth...

Baseball fanatic or not, everyone at least knows the name of Babe Ruth, one of the most famous players in baseball history. If you are a baseball fan, it's almost a must to see a Boston Red Sox game and what better way to enjoy then in with the comfort of your Boston car rentals company VERC Rentals? Babe Ruth was one of the first five players to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame and the first players to hit over 30, 40, and 50 home runs in one season! In the 1927 season, Babe Ruth made a record of 60 home runs which wasn't broken until 1961 by Roger Maris. Ruth began his time with the Boston Red Sox in 1914 and would not show his potential until around 1918. However, despite his success as a baseball player Ruth began to cause trouble for the Boston Red Sox on and off the field including heavy drinking which violated curfew, arguments with manager Ed Barrow, and refusing to pitch during scheduled starts. Even with all this friction, Ruth was gaining fame and was already being considered baseball's biggest star. Ruth's contract was drawing near by the 1920 season and the Boston Red Sox owner was going through financial trouble. Ruth wanted to negotiate his contract for $20 000 a season and if this was not met he would refuse to play the entire season. Tired of the troublesome player and overextended financially, Frazee decided to sell Ruth to the Yankees.

The Curse of the Bambino...

The Curse of the Bambino was an urban legend that was believed by many baseball fans for the failure of the Boston Red Sox to win another World Series for 86 years after the team owner sold Babe Ruth who was also known as The Bambino. After Babe Ruth was sold to the New York Yankees, as the Boston Red Sox failed the Yankees rose to success. In fact the New York Yankees became one of the most successful franchises in North American professional sports. Talk of the Curse of the Bambino officially ended in 2004 when the Boston Red Sox beat the Yankees in 2004 in the American League Championship Series and went to win the 2004 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. So when on your travels with your Boston car rentals company VERC Rentals be prepared to see an exciting game.
