The history of BC goes back a long way. St. Ignatius of Loyola was a Jesuit founder who wanted a place that could encourage faith, culture and intellectual inquiry "in conversation with the city". Benedict Joseph Fenwick eventually expressed his vision for a college to be placed in Boston that would educate a group of young leaders who would serve a civic and spiritual need for generations to come.
