Where Not to Park Your Car Rental

If you live and drive in a city, then you are all too familiar with the frustrations of parking your Boston car rental. You could have parked politely and be touring around, only to come back and find a cracked side mirror or a dent where one had not been before. No matter how annoying it is, these things happen. Here are some things to keep in mind when parking your Boston car rental to avoid getting dinged, scraped, or other harmful hazards.

Avoid Construction Zones like the Plague

If a building or a road is under construction, it’s likely that cement and overspray will be present. Consider cement and overspray to be the mortal enemies of your Boston car rental. Unfortunately, they can’t be “polished away.” Cement will bond to the surface and making cleaning your car a dangerous option. Avoid these areas at all costs.

Are the Other Cars in Rough Shape? Stay Away

You always want to be aware of the condition of the other cars in the area that you want to park. If you’re worried about getting dinged and the other cars around you are full of scrapes, bumper dents, and other problems, chances are you should keep driving. Walking a couple of blocks could save the paint or the body of your Boston car rental. And it doesn’t hurt your health either.

Mass Transit? No Mass Parking!

Another problematic spot to park your Boston car rental is near a mass transit hub, track, or station. Any public transit track is usually made out of metal, and because metal rusts, they consistently seep slimy liquid that can damage your paint beyond repair…

Don’t Park Your Boston Car Rental near Contractor Trucks

While contractors can work wonders on your roofing, plumbing, or home, all it takes is one look at their trucks to tell that they’re driving skills usually leave much to be desired.

Avoid Congested Spots in Large Parking Lots

Sometimes closest isn’t always safest. Mall parking lots are the worst and you’ll always find at least one scraped bumper from poor drivers or drivers who just don’t care. If you care about your Boston car rental, give yourself some peace of mind and park a little further back.

Don’t Chance it On the Street

Parking your car on the street is leaving its fate up to chance. You can never know who will drive by your car – or drive into it. If service vehicles, like snow ploughs, happen to come around, they may not take as much precaution with your car as you would. Try your best to find room in a driveway or a parking garage if you can.

If a Sign Says “No Parking” – It Means It

This seems a bit like stating the obvious, but you would be surprised at how many people ignore these signs. However, ignore them at your own peril, as if your car is caught parked by the wrong people, it could be ticketed or towed at your expense. Doesn’t seem worth the risk, does it?

On a Hill

Unless you’re familiar with how to safely park on a hill, it’s best to stick with a flat surface. If you don’t take the proper precautions, your car could start to roll downhill into traffic – or in to a car that may happened to be parked in front or behind you! And if you know how to park on a hill, that doesn’t mean that other drivers will. Don’t risk it.

One of the simplest things in car safety is being choosey about where you park. Contact VERC Rentals for more information about your Boston car rental!
