Drunk Driving Arrests Are Down – Good News or Poor Patrols?

Drinking is a part of the culture in Boston. Consistently ranked as one of the Drunkest Cities in the Nation by the Daily Beast, Boston has some of the best bars around.

Unfortunately, this also contributes directly to the amount of drunk driving accidents that happen in the city every year. It seems that everyday, there’s another report of a famous DUI on the streets of Boston. From Red Sox Pitcher Drake Britton, to the Massachusetts diocese leader, locals and Boston car rental drivers alike have trouble knowing when enough is enough. And yet, a recent story in the Boston Globe shows that the city’s drunk driving arrests are becoming few and far between.

According to the story, Boston police made just 241 drunken driving arrests last year. That’s roughly two every three days. That’s down by a third since 2009.  (more…)
