A gift the keeps on giving
Upon graduating Harvard, Carl A. Weyerhaeuser picked a Rembrandt print, The Descent from the Cross by Torchlight, as his graduation gift. His love for European and American prints is reflected throughout the museum collection which contains the works of artists such as Albrecht Durer, Jacques Callot, J. M.W. Turner, Camile Corot, Kaethe Kolwitz and Rembrandt van Rign. Carl A. Weyerhaeuser`s collection soon expanded to include Shaker furniture, American paintings and Asian art. His wife, Edith Weyerhaeuser suggested that he build a museum so that he could house and share his expanding collection.
